Tithi Luadthong: Expressive Illustrations Revolving Around Sci-Fi And Fantasy
Armed with his unique talent in illustrating beautiful landscapes, digital artist Tithi Luadthong owns great flair in painting scenes that tell more than just stories. Through each of his drawings, Tithi has mastered the art of evoking different emotions from every viewer. His passion for painting is seen expressed through the use of incredible color coupled with his conceptual illustrations.
While a majority of his artwork may hold a strong focus on the scenic aspect of landscapes or cityscapes, Tithi’s main artistic inspiration seems to revolve around a very popular form of Japanese comics, more widely known as manga. As seen in his interview with Adobe, Tithi’s favorite artist Tsutomu Nihei remains a source of inspiration for him.
AS: There are elements of science-fiction in your work – are there any artists or genres you look to for inspiration?
TL: My favorite artist is Tsutomu Nihei, who is a manga artist. His artworks is outstanding, especially sci-fi scenes.
Staying fluid with his zeal for digital illustration, Tithi’s illustrated imagination shows us different facets one’s creativity can have.
Where the usual landscape and cityscape themes would exist on the common side of the art spectrum, Tithi slides essential slices of science-fiction and fantasy into his illustrations.
Before adding in all the details that give his illustrations life, Tithi’s creative process involves sketching out his new ideas whenever the creative spark hits.
Normally my artworks are scenery paintings, like a landscape or cityscape. When I paint this style, in order to make it different, I decided to put story, theme and emotional in my picture. When I have a new idea, I start drawing sketches. Then I start coloring with the main color and gradually add in more details and other colors. When I create my artworks I use Adobe Photoshop. This program is flexible when I need to adjust tone colors. I use the brush tool and adapt it more texture when I paint everything.
